Dear Engineers of South Central Railway !

Due to some technical lag in the web site, I could not able to bring this post to you in time. But, I believe, better late than never. In fact it is an immense pleasure for me to narrate about Engineers’ Day celebrated on 15th September 2010 at Rail Nilayam Auditorium, Secunderabad on the eve of 149th Birth Anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visveswaraya under the able leadership of Er.Arumugam Kannan.

Er.A.Kannan gave his presidential address and elaborated the cause and need for the formation of South Central Railway Engineers’ Association and its progression in the past 9 months. He also explained about the lead taken by AIREF towards achievement of revised designations and also the progression towards our long pending demands of Higher grade pay with Gazetted status.

Er.Viswanadham addressed the gathered engineers and emphasized the need of transformation from Nation Builders to Nation Movers. He submitted a paper on “THE ROLE OF ENGINEERS IN ENSURING RAIL SAFETY” and need to follow the rules framed in various Codes and Manuals. He requested all engineers to take an OATH and commit themselves to achieve accident free Railways.

Er.K.Venkata Ramana, SSE/Mech/WS and Joint General Secretary/SCREA presented a paper in the safety seminar on “THE ROLE OF ENGINEERS IN ENSURING RAIL SAFETY”.  He touched every angle of the safety and explained how accidents can be prevented on Railways through his power point presentation with narration. The presentation made all the gathered engineers spell bound and audience gave an ovation at the end of presentation.

Er. Jayaram and Er.K.Chandrasekhar, SSEs/Electrical jointly presented paper in the Safety seminar on the steps to be taken to ensure safety in execution of various works.

In all, around 250 engineers from Engineering, Mechanincal, Electrical and S&T Departments have participated in the celebrations. Latest happenings

Dear SCREANs

My sincere apologies for being away from a considerable time. As I am busy with official work and being so locked up daily from 10.00 to 20.00 hrs., in the office, unable to be in touch with all of you. I believe you forgive me for my lapse.

I would like to appraise the latest position to you all.

1. Mr. Raju and Mr.Prabhudas attended Kolkata meeting as representatives of SCREA and submitted memorandum of our demands under the able leadership of Er.Tyagi.  As told by them, the interaction was fruitful and favorable.

2. An adhoc committee of office bearers was formed in the construction organization of SCRly with Mr.Ramesh as Secretary for the construction branch.

3. We are trying to motivate our colleague engineers of Secunderabad,Guntakal, Hyderabad and Nanded too. But, self initiation is the best initiation. Every one should realize the need for unity of Rail Engineers and the fate in absence of the same.

4. We are proposing to finalize the elections of all the branches before 10th September, so that we organize Engineer's Day Celebrations on Sep 15 at all Divisional Headquarters as well as at Zonal Headquarters.

5. We are proposing to release a SOUVENIR on the occasion of Engineer's Day. We request all our SCREANs to write articles for the Souvenir and send earliest by 25th August, so that they can be scrutinized by the committee and be printed.  Articles may also be sent to our mail id "engineers.screa@gmail.com".

Protest Week

Dear SCREAns
All of us are aware that gross discrimination was shown against Rail Engineers during the pay commissions and our cries are going into vacuum. In spite of repeated pleas, Railway administration is keeping a deaf ear towards our justified demands. Though hon'ble ministers and members of parliament demanded justification for Rail engineers in Rajya Sabha, Railway administration is paying least botheration. In view of the alarming situation, every rail engineer should display their displeasure to the administration before going for a mass agitation. Our Secretary General/AIREF gave a call that all Rail Engineers should observe a protest week from 14th June to 21st June by wearing BLACK BADGES at their work places. In response to the call given by Secy.Genl/AIREF, on 31.05.2010 i.e., today a notice was served by SCREA to GM/SCR; CPO/IR/SCR and CSC/SCR that SCREA is observing a protest week from 14th to 21st of June and also going to participate in the dharna to be organized on 22nd July before the residence of Railway Minister, Ms. Mamata Benarjee.
We request all SCREAns to compulsorily wear black badges while on duty for this entire week to convey our dissatisfaction. Please convey this message to all our Rail Engineers and motivate them to wear black badges.
Motivate every rail engineer....Tell them.... we shall fight for ourselves....None will fight for us....Let us not become technical Khalasis.....Let us proudly say we are Engineers and back bones for the Railways.....We need our social status.....we need our economical elevation..... let us join hands and achieve our demands.

REGISTRATION OF 'SCREA'

Dear SCREAns
I am happy to announce that the registration of SCREA is completed. Mr.Vikram Reddy, our legal adviser informed that the process of registration is completed and certificate of registration is issued by the Registrar of Associations.  Tentatively, the certificate will be handed over by Tuesday and the same will be scanned and posted in this place.
Really this is a good news and gives a boost to the associations activities. Hope you all extends your warmest support in pacing ahead with our activities.
Same time I request the engineers of Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Guntakal and Nanded divisions to motivate the membership and to organize elections for these divisions at the earliest. Once we become stronger, easier to achieve our targets.

Latest status of activities

Dear SCREAns
In view of the General Manager/SCR's inspections scheduled over the Zone in all the divisions, the activities of our Association were a bit slow for the past one and half months. As almost all the engineers are engaged restlessly in the related activities of the inspection, little communication gap has come. Now, we again have to dedicate atleast an hour per day in strengthening the activities of our association as committed by us.
You are all aware that the registration process of our association is pending since considerable time. The hurdle for registration arised at accommodation for registered office. We did several efforts to get a place from the administration but in vain being unrecognized organization. So, we put all efforts and ultimately could able to get a hired accommodation. The legal procedures such as lease agreement etc; are finished yesterday and the documents required are submitted to our legal adviser Mr.Vikram who is taking care of the registration. So, by mid of this month, our organizations registration will be completed.
It is unfortunate but true that, some of the office bearers from recognized unions are trying to threaten our office bearers and applying pressures through their controlling officers to bring them out from SCREA. It is a very bad sign and where our unity is utmost requisite. We practically tasted the bitterness of the parity shown towards our cadre by those leaders. If engineers yields to their pressure, we definitely will descend the ladder by few more steps. I request all SCREAns to be stubborn to achieve our demands and to keep our status.
I request all SCREAns to send your views and suggestions in improvising the association through our email. Here again I am reiterating the mail id of SCREA.
      "engineers.screa@gmail.com"
If all engineers joins their hands, definitely it will be more than the length of railways network.
Further, GS/ECOREA sent a message that their CEC meeting will be held at Bhubaneswar on 09th May. It is requested that interested engineers shall intimate him at the earliest so that arrangements can be made. If your willingness is intimated to any of our Zonal/Divisional office bearers, it will be informed to GS/ECoREA.

Response to Poll

Dear SCREAns

Thank you for participating in the poll to know about progress of SCREA. 71% of engineers felt that SCREA is keeping good pace and 27% of the engineers suggested more efforts are required. Certainly I support the views of our Engineers. Running an association is an intricate task for few people. It should be a collective effort. Fortunately SCREA is receiving support from all fronts and hence progressing with good pace. But, as our engineers suggested, it requires more efforts for to gain strength.

As on date, after formation of SCREA on 12th Dec 2009; we could able to form Division bodies of Vijayawada and Guntur only. Still we should form Division bodies of Secunderabad, Guntakal, Hyderabad and Nanded. The membership drive is very slow in these divisions.

All our engineers are aware that this is the high time for Rail Engineers to unite and to achieve our minimum rights. If not now, never we can get them.

I humbly request all Rail Engineers to inculcate awareness among our colleague rail engineers on the need. Each Rail Engineer should take up a task to educate at least another two rail engineers and join them as members of SCREA. This effort will definitely keep us in a strong position than any other organization.

          LET ALL RAIL ENGINEERS
TALK TOGETHER---WALK TOGETHER ---WORK TOGETHER

Dear SCREAns

Just put a glance on the side bar. You find a poll question. A poll is always best means to express our view and obviously decision can be taken on the majority opinion. Hope this gives SCREA a better guidance in its progression. I request all of you to cast your opinion whenever a new opinion is sought and encourage.
